2010 Winter Olympics

The Winter Olympics are 3 Days away

by photodreamz on February 9, 2010

I don’t know about you, but I am extremely excited. Excited to be living in Vancouver during this extraordinary event. Sure there are those that say the Olympics are bad for Vancouver. With cost over-runs predicted in the Billions.

But even with all of the negativity there are great advantages.

  • The world is going to be watching Vancouver.
  • The economic benefit will show with tourism growth
  • National Pride is on a high.
  • Our hockey team is one of the best since Super Mario was around
  • We are likely to have the highest medal count on record
  • Theres going to be a month long party in Vancouver
  • Its an incredible opportunity to network and meet people from everywhere

The above are just a few of the things that excite me.
Canada may not have always been the top medal winners. But we have a rich Olympic history.
And the Vancouver2010 Games are soon going to be a part of that.
Remember Henderson? I think we are due for a repeat!

2010 Vancouver Olympics Light Show

by photodreamz on February 8, 2010

This wonderful moving art & Light show display is at the entrance to False Creek. They have strategically placed high powered light beams on The English Bay side and Vanier Park Side. You can even participate in the direction the lights face. Vectorial Elevation Website.

If you want to photograph this wonderful moving art piece there are several places to do it. I recommend the point beside the Maritime Museum. Usually un-crowded at night and you can have a panoramic city view with it. Vanier park is also very good. There are few lights in the park making long exposures with a tripod easier. There is also the Downtown side, which is very easy to access. If you want a view from higher up you can try walking the West Side of the Burrard Street Bridge to find a spot.
